How to Cut Down on Your Business’s Waste

by alphatech-world

With the environment in the state that it is, it is important that all is done in order to rectify the damage already caused and to prevent too much reoccurring damage from being done.

With this in mind, it is a very good idea to try and cut down on the amount of waste that is coming out of every business (and every home for that matter) that is just heading straight to landfill sites or ending up on the shores of beauty spots.

Go paper-free

Okay, so you may not be able to go completely paper-free within your business, but in most offices, you can really cut down on the amount of paper being used. This is not only great news for the environment but also for your pocket too.

The amount of paper that is wasted every year due to office workers printing out items they do not necessarily need to is astounding. By providing your workforce with the correct technology in order to save the use of the paper, you will not only be providing them with superior tools but helping them get their jobs roles completed quicker and without the distractions of going to a printer or all the other areas such as dealing with printer maintenance on their already overstretched time frame.

Recycle everything that you can

It is therefore so important that you recycle everything that you can from your business’s waste. Obviously, you can not recycle paper or packaging with names and addresses or any personal data on them, but when it comes to cardboard, for instance, you can quite easily recycle this.

If your business deals with a lot of incoming deliveries, you will probably be inundated with cardboard boxes and the like. Putting some of these aside so that your employees can use them for moving their items should they be relocating their home is one way of recycling, but it will not sort the majority of your boxes for you.

However, investing in cardboard baler machines could be the way forward, at least while you are storing them on your site awaiting recycling collection or for you to take them down to the local recycling center.

Use recycled items for packaging

Another way of recycling is to utilize some of the products that you are going to be sending either to the waste or to recycling as packaging materials. These items, for instance, such as polystyrene peanuts, shredded paper, or shredded cardboard, can quite easily be reused as fillers for boxes in order to protect your merchandise from damage during transport.

You may find that for the odd item, you can also reuse any cardboard boxes that come into your workplace, whether it is for your own particular storage or for sending items out to other environmentally-aware customers.

Indeed, asking your customers whether they are happy to receive their goods in reused packaging rather than new packaging could be the way forward. You could be surprised by the number of businesses and customers that are interested in the packaging.
